MW Studio Lessons Rules and Etiquette

We are pleased to offer you lessons in the MW Backstage studios! Did you know? The studio space has been professionally designed to inspire creativity and learning (think: “music lessons meet Tiny Desk Concerts”) and is where we have our teacher workshops and open mics. To maintain this artistic professional atmosphere, please follow these guidelines.

Maintaining a safe, clean and focused environment: In our community music space, we rely on you to help maintain a creative, safe and focused experience for all students.

  • Look but Don’t Touch: Our studio is filled with carefully curated items to inspire creativity. Please ensure that children do not touch or move any objects or equipment, including those on shelves.

  • Stay seated: To maintain a calm and focused environment, children should stay quietly seated while waiting and during lessons. If this proves difficult, in-home lessons may be a better fit.

  • Quiet atmosphere: Please maintain an appropriate volume and ensure siblings are not disruptive. Parents should come prepared with quiet activities, silent devices or headphones for waiting siblings. Please take any calls outside.

  • Supervision: All children under the age of 14 must be supervised at all times in the waiting area. Once the lesson starts, parents may leave the studio if the student is over ten and the teacher agrees (see FAQ).

  • No Food or Drinks: Only water is allowed in the music studio.

Punctuality and changes:

  • Stay informed: It is the parent's responsibility to be aware of dates and times of lessons, closures and changes of schedule.

  • Arrive on time: Students should arrive 5 to 10 minutes before their scheduled lesson time. Instructors are not responsible for students before and after the stated lesson time.

  • Punctual pickup: Students should be picked up no later than 5 minutes after their lesson has concluded. Delayed pick-up may result in additional lesson charges for the instructor’s time spent waiting with your student.

  • Be prepared: Students should come prepared with their instrument, materials, etc. for each lesson.
