Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the lesson comittment? By month, semester, or for the year?

We offer lessons on a month to month basis, though we look forward to making magic with you for years!

Where do you teach?

We teach in-home lessons in the mainline area of PA but we also have a beautiful and fun studio space in Ardmore for lessons and group classes. We are leaders in online lessons and offer an engaging, productive lesson experience that you can't get anywhere else on the internet! (Ask us about online lessons and we'll prove it!)

How much do lessons cost?

It depends! We structure the lessons to match you perfectly. That means deciding if you need our typical 45 minute lesson or something a bit longer or shorter. The ideal teacher match is factored in and it also depends on your method of delivery: in-home, in-studio or online. Prices can be found here.

How soon can I start?

Most students are placed in a week (when their availability and other lesson requests are flexible). At certain times of the year, demand for our lessons spots is higher and that process may take a bit longer.

What method do you use to teach lessons?

We love using creativity and educational techniques to bring music to life for students. It's Meridee's own method! It combines student-based, hands-on exploration with the classic approach to learning notes, chords, reading music and more. Oh, and it requires FUN!

Can I purchase method books?

We thought you'd never ask! Our method books are available on Amazon and also on Shopify. Email books@merideewinters.com if you have specific questions about the method and which book is right for you.

What if there is extreme/inclement weather?

Similar to the local school districts, our teachers will be offering a switch to online lessons at your regular lesson time in the event of extreme/inclement weather. Your teachers are excited to deliver results and musical growth, no matter the weather! Their virtual classrooms are set up to accommodate playful online lessons, and they will provide you with a link prior to their lesson.

*Please chat with your teacher if you're concerned a student may be too young or would not otherwise do well with an online lesson in order to make other accommodations.

What background checks do your teachers complete?

All Meridee Winters Teachers complete three background checks before they can teach with the school. These are the Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check and Federal Criminal History Record Information check.

What if I want to discontinue/take a break?

You may discontinue lessons at any time, providing notice of cancellation to the school at least 10 days prior to the next billing date. You may opt to take or forfeit any remaining lessons. Tuition will not be refunded. This same policy applies to students who wish to “take a break.” Students who opt to do that cannot save their spot with their teacher, and may need to resume lessons with a different member of our talented teaching team.
